Dan Marchant is the co-owner and Managing Director of Vape Club: the UK’s most prominent online vaping retailer. Since joining back in 2013, he has helped shape the company into both a commercial success and a respected voice in the field of evidence-based vaping policy.
Industry Leadership & Advocacy
Dan’s journey into vape advocacy began after he quit his 30-a-day cigarette habit. He’d seen vapes around and was interested in their potential. Having earned an undergraduate honours degree in Biology from Brunel University, he understood the science and after a period of intense research he became convinced of vaping’s effectiveness as a harm reduction tool.
On his arrival at Vape Club, Dan quickly got to work. His first-hand experience of the quitting journey and with vape products in general put him in the best position to create Vape Club’s celebrated Customer Service Team.
Since that day, the goal has always been the same: to ensure that anyone, customer or not, receives the information they need from a friendly, knowledgeable source. Rated 4.9 out of 5 on Trustpilot - with over 40,000 reviews, our UK-based team of experts are available 7 days a week.
Alongside his work at Vape Club, Dan is one of the founding members of the UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA). He was invited to take the role of Director, which he happily accepted, and continues to have a leading role on the board and sits on a number of UKVIA committees:
- Youth Access Prevention Committee
- Policy and Regulatory Committee
- Membership Committee
The author of the Vape Licensing Scheme, Dan’s framework for protecting the legitimate vape industry and stopping rogue traders has now made its way into the Tobacco & Vapes Bill.
Media & Public Profile
Dan makes regular appearances on major outlets (TV, radio and newspapers) supporting the vape industry, defending science-based regulation and calling out misinformation. He has replied to the ITV report “how safe is your vape” and its sensationalist journalism, has spoken to BBC Radio 4 on his concerns over youth access to vaping, and appeared on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire show to offer perspective on vape regulation in the US and discuss how the UK marketspace could be better managed. He has also appeared on BBC News, Sky News and ITV News advocating for vaping.
Having been involved in the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for vaping, he then went on to speak at the Conservative Party conference too. He has also been sought out for comment and opinion on the disposable vape ban, the vaping tax and proposed legislative changes to vape packaging and advertising.
Achievements & Awards
Under his leadership, Vape Club has won several awards, including the “Best Vaping-Related Research Study” for it’s industry-wide research into the seizure of illegal vapes and subsequent report. This is alongside awards from industry bodies including Eciglick (Best Retailer 2024) and Vape Business Awards (Best Online Retailer).
Outside of awards, Dan remains a strong advocate for environmental responsibility in the vape sector, he was vital in shaping Vape Club’s recycling programme and keeping up to date with new WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) requirements that help keep the business green.
His work on the Licensing Framework includes provisions to ensure that retailers and wholesalers are compliant with disposal and recycling processes, and in turn improve the industry’s eco credentials.
In politics, aside from his work on committees and parliamentary groups, Dan has contributed to policy development and continues to lobby for better enforcement of vape laws and stronger fines for illegal retailers.
