Sub ohm kits are designed to support DTL (Direct To Lung) vaping, which allows you to inhale vapour directly in your lungs. This vaping style and the kits that accommodate it are very popular as they allow for increased vapour production and for you to use a lower nicotine strength. These kits work in exactly the same way as traditional models, made up of a battery device (mod) and a refillable tank. They feature a high power output, advanced chipsets and are often supported by removable batteries.

The sub ohm pod kit manages to combine the discreet build and simplicity of a pod kit with the high power output of a classic sub ohm kit. The result is a more budget-friendly option that you can fit into your pocket, but still rely on to deliver a genuine sub ohm experience - complete with the increased vapour production. A firm favourite amongst newer vapers, as well as the more experienced vaper looking for a smaller kit to take out and about; there is now a range of sub ohm pod kits that feature removable coils and those that use built-in coils. This means that you can quickly find one that requires an amount of upkeep you feel comfortable with.

Sub ohm vape kits are designed to create larger amounts of vapour, they achieve this through a combination of low resistance coils (below 1.0 Ohm) and high power output (above 40W). This increased vapour production allows for Direct To Lung (DTL) vaping. This vaping style doesn’t necessarily exclude anyone from using sub ohm kits, but if you’ve just made the switch you find that you’re more comfortable with a Mouth To Lung (MTL) kit that produces less vapour and allows for a vaping style that’s similar to how most people would smoke a cigarette. Aside from the increased vapour production, many sub-ohm vape kits will also feature advanced modes that allow for a greater degree of customisation. These modes can be a bit complex and are often best suited for more experienced vapers.

For sub ohm vaping we recommend an e-liquid that contains at least 60% VG. Out of the wide varieties available, 70% VG e-liquid has proven to be the stand-out choice, offering both improved taste and a larger level of vapour production. Aside from VG/PG ratio, you’ll also want to consider the nicotine strength of your e-liquid. It’s important to remember that as these kits produce more vapour you will need a lower nic strength than with an MTL kit, we recommend a 3mg e-liquid or 6mg e-liquid.
