#1 Uwell Caliburn Pod Vape Kit

PERFORMANCE SCORE
Flavour: 5/5
Smoothness: 5/5
Cost-Effectiveness: 5/5
Value For Money: 5/5
PROS & CONS
+ Long-Lasting Battery
+ Solid Range Of Compatible Coils
- Pods Can Be Known To Leak From Time To Time
- Coils Can Be Fiddly To Change Over

The Uwell Caliburn has flown off the shelves since its release earlier this year and for good reason! Whilst it’s not one of the most recent kits to be released, this elegant pen-like pod device does exactly what it says on the tin, providing unparalleled flavour with a great draw which isn’t too tight and not too loose. The 520mAh battery is long-lasting whilst the top fill pods take all of the hassle and mess away from refilling.

Whilst the specs themselves don’t set the Caliburn apart from the rest, the user experience tells us all we need to know. There’s just something about the way the Caliburn works, the inhale and airflow are just spot on for so many people, and the flavour production is genuinely one of the best of any kit on the market. If you’ve been thinking about picking up a new kit, either to start vaping or just looking for something a little different to what you already have, you really cannot go wrong with the Caliburn.

This kit is so popular Uwell have already released a second generation in the form of the Koko Caliburn kit, which provides a more compact design than the original for those looking for the same top class performance, but with a different form factor.

The Caliburn takes top spot because it ticks all the boxes so emphatically, being the best in class performance, affordability, discreet/compactness and simplicity in use. Excusing the fact it can be a bit fiddly to get the pod cap off to refill the pod, there’s virtually nothing not to like!

#2 Smok Nord 2 Pod Vape Kit

PERFORMANCE SCORE
Flavour: 5/5
Smoothness: 5/5
Cost-Effectiveness: 5/5
Value For Money: 5/5
PROS & CONS
+ 1500mAh Battery
+ Wide Range Of Compatible Coils
+ Adjustable Wattage Up To 40W
- Coils & Pod Compatibility Can Be Confusing

The Nord 2 was the second major pod kit sequel from Smok recently with the first, the Smok Novo 2, appearing further down this list. Smok are likely best known for their more advanced sub ohm kits but such has been the popularity of the pod kits as of late, it was entirely unsurprising to see Smok strengthening their foothold on the market as one of the key players in pod vaping.

The Nord 2 is different than most on this list, due to the fact that it utilises replaceable coils. What this means is that there’s no need to buy a replacement pod when your flavour starts to change or performance dips, simply swap out the coil, let it soak for 5 mins, and you’re vaping away again. Not only that, but there are different pod and coil options to choose from, allowing the user to tweak and tailor their vaping experience.

It’s compact design makes it one of the most pocket-friendly kits out there whilst the adjustable wattage feature again highlights its customisation aspect. The large capacity 1500mAh battery has a durable lifespan which strikes the ideal balance between power and output.

Once again the Nord 2 ticks so many boxes so emphatically. We love the option to change coils and wattage, with it only losing out on the top spot due to the Caliburn’s superior flavour production. All in all though, if you’re looking for a super compact device for when you’re on the go, or you want the option to switch up your vape seamlessly, then the Nord 2 is a top choice!

#3 Aspire Pockex Vape Kit

PERFORMANCE SCORE
Flavour: 5/5
Smoothness: 5/5
Cost-Effectiveness: 5/5
Value For Money: 5/5
PROS & CONS
+ Ergonomic & Easy Upkeep
+ Multiple Coil Compatibility (Including Sub Ohm)
- Overfilling Tank Can Cause Leakage
- Non-Replaceable Battery

The Pockex from Aspire is one of those truly rare things; a product that’s been so consistently good, despite literally thousands of kits entering the market since it’s release back in 2016 (yes, 4 years ago!!!), it still manages to make it into the top 3 for 2020’s list! Nowhere in the vaping world does the old adage so rightfully apply - if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!

Aspire have been manufacturing vaping hardware from the early days back in 2013. They are likely best known for the Nautilus Mini tank, which has been helping people make the switch for even longer than the Pockex! When we asked customers what defines Aspire for them, the answer, in a word, was “quality”. Aspire simply make good products, and are always made to last.

The Pockex is no exception. It’s pretty much the ultimate starter kit with an ergonomic pen design which is both lightweight and compact, whilst its multiple coil compatibility (Pockex coils as well as the renowned Nautilus X coils will work with the Pockex) is a huge benefit for users who are new to vaping, allowing them to try different coils and get used to fiddling about a bit.

It’s super simple to use whilst still being what one might describe as an old school vape device. No pods or any of that stuff here, oh no. This is ‘proper vaping’ and a great kit for those looking to make the switch but who also aren’t afraid of getting their hands a little sticky and learning a couple of things about vaping along the way!

That simplicity of use is likely the key to the Pockex’s success. That and the fact it’s just so versatile, whilst still doing the basics so ruddy well! The only real negative to mention is that users have reported that although battery life is good, the overall lifetime of the battery is somewhat questionable. For those who like this design but would prefer the inclusion of power levels and adjustable airflow, the Innokin Endura T18 II is also a great choice.
